As with the Graf Zeppelin, much mail originating in Switzerland was carried aboard its sister airship, the ill-fated Hindenburg. Swiss mail was carried on 24 flights of the Hindenburg between 1936 and 1937. Only 3 Swiss covers are known to have survived the Hindenburg’s fiery crash on May 6, 1937 in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

1935 Pro Juventute blocks franked this registered cover carried aboard the 1st
North American Flight of the Hindenburg, May 6-9, 1936.
